HQS Inspections
RHA Housing Quality Standards
RHA inspects your unit when you first lease it to an RHA program participant and at least every 24 months thereafter. The RHA inspection process focuses on possible health or safety hazards like, a smoke alarm with a dead battery, or an outlet without a switch plate - what the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) calls Housing Quality Standards (HQS).
Please examine your unit carefully and be prepared prior to the RHA scheduled inspection. RHA may not enter into a HAP Contract with the owner if the unit fails the HQS inspection. The sooner the unit passes inspection, the sooner the unit may be able to go under a Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) contract with RHA.
The forms and link below are additional resources regarding the HQS process.
